It's always the same at family parties. My father-in-law arrives with the camera, never really sits down, and ends up with photos of everyone but himself.
In the summer of 2026 we held the party we originally built fest-appen for: four milestone birthdays — 70, 60, 40 and 40 — rolled into one celebration with around 100 guests. People spread across the garden and the house; two screens showed photos live all day, so it didn't matter whether you were at the garden games outside or the cake table inside.
Then the phones got to work. Welcome drinks and cake. Beer pong and ring toss on the lawn. The food, the live band, and a steady stream of selfies from guests relaxing at the tables — inside and out. Everything landed in one place and rolled on the screens while the party was still going. This time my father-in-law had left the camera at home.
By the end we had nearly 300 photos from the party itself.
